Sales history
Is it possible for someone at eBay to look into the sales history of someone who has just closed their account.
In brief, I discovered some items for sale on a 'friend's' eBay account that had 'gone missing' from my desk over a year ago, and another friends' handbag in recent weeks. The 'friend' returned the items and promptly closed their eBay account. During the time period that the items 'went missing' (were stolen), my very expensive watch vanished. I want to know whether it is possible for eBay to see whether it was sold, or listed, on the now closed account.
I do not want to get my 'friend' in trouble, even though they have stolen from me. They are clearly having a very bad time and actually need support. I just want to know what happened to my watch.

This will show items sold over a much longer time period than searching a seller's own recently sold items.
You could even narrow it down to this particular seller by entering your former friend's username in the "only items by this seller" box further down. (In fact I've just realised that you could probably search for all items sold by this seller by leaving the keywords or item number box blank.)
If you find it, you will have the option to "open original listing" which will show the full listing page.

OP10 months agoThank you for your help. I have tried to search by entering the username details, but nothing comes up at all. It's like this person has taken everything off. I assumed it was because the account had been closed, but I now think, given what people have written above, that they have just taken all their items for sale off (presumably because they too were stolen). There were a number of small digital cameras and other items hand bag sized.

This would not be allowed by UK law/GDPR.
You can report live listings if you believe somebody is selling stolen property but Ebay's advice is to contact 'law enforcement' - so, inform the police.
You could search for a specific item by using 'Search', putting in terms which would cover your watch, and then looking at 'sold'items but there is a time limit on how long sold items show up.

Mentor10 months agoYou can look at sold items yourself, ebay would be most unlikely to help and disclose information about another member.
Sellers cannot just close their account, ebay will not allow member to close an account until the time for any potential claims has passed. If account closed and there were recent sales, then it would have been closed by ebay.
If closed by ebay another account could not be opened, if closed by member another account could be opened without you knowing the ID, to prevent you seeing what is being listed.
