Any chance of speaking to a human at ebay. Trying to sort out a refund that the seller has sent to the wrong card

Mentor3 months agoDebit cards do not hold money they are used to access a Current Account, so if money came from current account it goes back to there.
It would be helpful to know the full circumstances of this refund, as there is a procedure which will not change.

OP3 months agoI bought an item that, when tried was not fit for purpose, too loose. The seller agreed to refund straight away, but I haven't received it. Card numberseller was given does not match mine

Mentor3 months agoBut the seller wouldn't have been given a card number. They have to refund through ebay, ebay do not give them that.

Mentor3 months agoRefunds go back to their funding source, sellers can't select where it should go.
What kind of card is it? Debit or credit?

Mentor3 months agoIf the payment doesn't go back into your bank account via that card because the number on it has changed due to it being reported lost or stolen, it'll go back to eBay and then back to your bank via the new card that you've presumably updated.
If it doesn't, you may need to contact eBay. This link works via the app:

OP3 months agoThe money was refunded, but to a card that expired 2 years ago. The seller was given that number by ebay

Mentor3 months agoSellers have no access to card numbers. All a seller can do is to click on the 'Refund' button (which sends the payment back to its funding source), and that's it.
Sellers don't even know what payment method the buyer used to fund the payment, be it debit or credit card, Apple Pay, eBay Balance etc.
