Royal mail text message scam?
I received a text message with a link from royal mail saying they can't deliver my item as i need to pay a delivery fee. I thought straight away it's a scam so i contacted the seller but i got ignored. They won't cancel my order what can i do?

·4 months agoIf your item has been sent, then it can't be cancelled by the seller.
Sometimes, sellers don't put enough postage on which means items are delayed and then you are asked to pay a fee. Usually though, as far as I know, RM pop a postcard through your door rather than sending a message.
So, unless you are 100% certain that the message is connected to your expected Ebay package and you are prepared to pay the fee - you probably won't be able to get it back from the seller or Ebay - ignore the message.
Then, if your expected parcel doesn't arrive, open an 'item not received' case as you normally would.

Mentor4 months agoThe scam involves a non existent purchase, not one where you can contact a seller. So this could be an actual purchase, however RM usually leave a red card for these events.
You can't ask to cancel an order after dispatch.
It's possible they have underpaid the postage.
What does tracking show for the order you queried with the seller?

The fact that you have an outstanding order, and a text message purporting to be from RM could be a complete coincidence by the way.

OP4 months agoTracking doesn't say anything doesn't even say if it's been posted. I checked online and i was told royal mail don't send text messages asking for fees for delivery they usually put a card through your letterbox.
