Royal mail say they lost it but ebay have to claim?
Summary: xanadu1812 discussed an issue with a lost item shipped via Royal Mail. After refunding the buyer, they were informed that eBay should handle claims with Royal Mail on their behalf since eBay is the contractual partner. *vyolla* explained that with Simple Delivery, eBay typically handles the refund to the buyer, and it may be difficult to retrieve the seller's lost payment if they've already refunded the buyer. xanadu1812 emphasized their interest in having eBay claim compensation from Royal Mail for the loss.
Hi all.
I sold an item. Funds received no oats. With simple delivery. It was collected by Royal Mail. But it didn't get there. Royal mail said to easily and it would probably get there but logged it. It still didn't get there so I dutifully refunded the buyer. Royal mail now accept that they lost the item and I should apparently claim from ebay so that ebay can claim from RM On my behalf, as it's ebay that have s contact with RM, not me. Is this correct? And how do I do that? I can't see anything on any help page regarding this. Only things that help the buyer. Help please.

Mentor1 month agoWith Simple Delivery the buyer opens an eBay item not received claim and then eBay refund the buyer because they are responsible for the postage, the seller keeps the original payment.
If you've refunded your buyer there isn't a way to get your payment back, I'm afraid.

OP3 weeks agoI don't care about the money from the buyer. He deserves good money back. But I deserve that ebay claim from royal mail for my loss.
