Returns
Hi I sold a large stereo product which I stated I will not post due to size and not wanting to get damaged. The buyer collected and before this I told them they can test and confirm they are completely happy before leaving. The seller just switched it on and said this is fine. Two days later I get a refund request stating the remote is not working properly and volume is low on unit and wants a refund plus return postage.
can I not request the buyer returns the item in the same way as collected to avoid any damage for one? And two, I gave every opportunity to check and test before and during the sale but was declined but now I am penalised?
where do I stand on this?

·8 months agoAs the buyer has opened a return request because there are faults which were not mentioned in the listing, you need to accept the return.
You are responsible for getting the item back - you can pay postage or go and collect it from the buyer. They are not obliged to bring it back to you.
The Money Back Guarantee applies to all buyers, even if they come and collect the item from you and examine and test it before they take it away,

The seller has to arrange the return at their expense, ie. you have to either collect the item yourself or arrange the courier to pick it up. You can try asking the buyer to drop it off, see what they say.
If you don't accept the return and they escalate it, ebay nearly always side with the buyer and the escalation can put a defect on your account. But you can appeal here:
