Return postage charged for incorrect goods
I have returned an incorrect car part for credit using an ebay label. Ebay have deducted the cost and say I should get the refund from the seller. The seller says (correctly in my view) that the part was deemed the right one by ebay since I selected my car from 'My Garage' and the guaranteed fit scheme https://pages.ebay.com/motors/ebay-guaranteed-fit
Ebay's own terms say the seller pays (see below) and the Consumer protection Act 2015 agrees.
Who pays for return postage?
The seller pays for return postage if the item was damaged, faulty, or doesn't match the listing description, or if they offer a free returns policy.
You pay for return postage if you're returning the item because you changed your mind, and the seller's return policy states that buyers are responsible for return postage.
So who should pay? I didn't ask for incorrect parts. Ebay shouldn't offer a guarantee they are not prepared to back. So I think they should sort it with the seller, rather than everyone washing their hands of it. I could just cough up but if this keeps happening with bigger items it's going to get pricey.!
