Return of dangerous item
How do you proceed if the seller has sold you an electrical item which eBay then tell you not to use as it is potentially lethal. Contact with the seller is proving to be fruitless. EBay can’t step in as the action is on me to return, but I can’t get a return label. I probably shouldn’t be returning a potentially lethal item anyway. Need advice

Mentor3 weeks agoYou said in your feedback that the seller had kept you talking until eBay's 30 day time limit to return it has expired. So there is now nothing you can now do through eBay.
eBay has now removed all record of the item from their database but as the seller was not even a registered business seller there's not much chance of getting them to resolve it.
You could try contacting the manufacturer, of failing this you could ask your payment provider whether they can help. Otherwise you can only bin it.
Remember that when you joined eBay you accepted the warning in the user agreement that eBay does not guarantee that items sold here will be truthfully, describes, safe or even legal. Would you have bought it from a shop that stated this? So you knew the risks of buying from unknown sellers here.

OP3 weeks agoOk- I knew the risks, but I would never have believed that an item that was sold openly could kill me. Also, that there is no comeback on those engaged in selling lethal items. I received a government safety warning about this item- from eBay and told not to use it and that all stocks had been destroyed on entry to the country. Then it turns out it’s my fault as I knew the risks. Really!!

Mentor3 weeks agoIf within 30 days it is up to you the buyer to open a not as described case, seller either provides a return tracked label, and refunds on return, or just refunds if he does not want back.
If over 30 days contact your payment provider to see if they can help.

Mentor3 weeks agoWhen did you receive it? If more than 30 days ago ebay has no liability.
