Mentor3 weeks agoThats not right, or you have got matters confused.
The post office once an item is accepted pass the mail to Royal Mail to deliver (in laymans terms) A scan would not have been accepted if previously used.
Who is telling you this the seller? What does tracking say online? (not on ebay but royal mail)

OP3 weeks agoall sorted now via ebay customer services. but you are wrong apparently it is happening that duplicate numbers are being used.

Mentor3 weeks ago · EditedThat doesn't make a lot of sense if the return postage label was scanned at your local Post Office and you were issued with a receipt. A label that's already been used and scanned won't scan again.
If Royal Mail claim that the package has been lost then you may need to let eBay know. What does the tracking number on your receipt show?

OP3 weeks agothe tracking shows the parcel delivered 2 weeks later, but its to a totally different address and the pod shows a different package. the tracking shows the parcel going all over the place.

Mentor3 weeks agoYou'll need to contact eBay and let them know that the returned package has gone astray through no fault of your own and ask them to take a look at the tracked journey themselves.
