Request to remove feedback
Summary: micsh-47417 shared a frustrating experience involving a buyer who won an item listed "for collection only" but insisted on sending a courier instead. When micsh-47417 attempted to cancel the transaction due to this issue, the buyer responded with abusive language and left negative feedback. Despite reaching out to eBay to request the removal of the feedback, micsh-47417 was unsuccessful and felt unsupported by the platform's seller protection policies.
I recently listed an item for collection only, there was a bid placed and the buyer won it, but they wanted a courier to collect the item and I had only got collection face to face, the buyer message me stating they were not coming but the courier only, so because I do not use a laptop and only my phone the option for cancelling was the buyer asked to cancel as this was the only option that made sense, the buyer responded with abusive behaviour swearing at me with starting line of wtf, and prattish going, and followed this up with leaving me negative feedback which was just as bad but without the abuse but still harsh, I asked eBay to remove the feedback and now they will not take it off and the buyer had the right to leave me the feedback, I feel like this was bot behaviour and there wasn’t any human that has looked into this, I feel let down especially as I was under the impression it was a crime to swear at someone a rule violation policy, the buyer knew they wasn’t collecting and yet they put me in a position in which eBay are still siding with, where is this so called seller protection, please help me

MentorJul 11, 2026 at 2:47 PMI would never use the 'buyer asked to cancel' reason for cancelling an order without getting their agreement first, it stands to reason that they're going to be annoyed.
For what its worth, a buyer sending a third party to collect removes their eBay Money Back Guarantee/Buyer Protection coverage, which is more advantageous to the seller. As long as you are given the collection code by the buyer or their courier before handing over the item you'll have proof of collection.
Plus, the item only sold for £5 so not a high scam item.
I can't see anything in that buyers feedback that breaches eBay's feedback policy and, if you've already applied to have it removed and eBay have refused then there isn't anywhere else you can go with this.
