Refusing pay customs send item back
Can anyone advise i bought item from Germany paid £12. Delivery not ibhave been hit with £56 custom charge . If I refuse pay it and get sent back will seller refund my money excluding postage

Mentor3 weeks agoThe safest thing for you to do is accept the delivery and pay the import duty. If its a business seller you can return it and then apply to get the tax back. There's a form you complete on the HMRC website.

OP3 weeks agoProblem is wasn't aware of any custom fees defeats purpose paying £56 then returning them just wanted find out royal mail returns item can they refuse to give me money back

Mentor3 weeks agoIf you refuse delivery there's no guarantee the item will get back to the seller, and you void your buyer protection.

Mentor3 weeks agoIn short they could refuse. Refusal to pay import/duty fees negates the eBay money back gaurantee, you are not covered at all.

eBay does warn buyers that customs charges may be payable when buying from abroad. Since BREXIT this has included countries in the EU. Payment is the the buyer's responsibility and buyers are expected to check the charges will apply in their own country.
As has been said, if you refuse to accept delivery you will forfeit any protection under eBay's money back guarantee.
