Refusing Partial refund
Seller wouldn’t budge on partial refund for an item that had a piece missing and then ignored two messages I sent him, so I got eBay involved as I was getting nowhere with the seller.
Finally, he has agreed to a £5 refund on a £14 item, but I am so annoyed that it has taken this long, I feel inclined to get him to take the item back for a full refund, with him paying the postage etc.
So, if I refuse the £5 refund, will I still be able to insist on him taking the item back, or will I lose the offer of a partial refund?

Mentor5 months agoSome buyers will ask for part refund to get discount on item cost.
Seller is entitled to request return of item (they supply postage label) and refund on return.
Depends on cost of item.
I am not saying you are doing this, but it is sellers choice how they deal with issue.

Mentor5 months agoYou speak as though you somehow felt entitled to a partial refund.
Sellers don't have to agree to partial refunds and there are sound reasons why they may prefer disputed items to be returned for a full refund.
eBay doesn't get involved in this. A refund on return is their default procedure for items that are faulty or not as described.

OP5 months agoNot sure what you mean by entitled, as it is a simple case of advertising something where part of it is missing, so giving the seller the opportunity to partially refund in compensation or have the whole thing back - either way I wasn't overly bothered, but then he point blank ignored my two emails trying to resolve the problem and only now has reacted with eBay messaging him

Mentor5 months agoIf you refuse the partial refund the only thing left is to return for a full refund.

Mentor5 months agoIf part refund is made through case & you accept it, payment is made & case closes.
So you won't be able to reopen case for full refund.
If in doubt, return for full refund through case.
