refunding money
I tried to purchase an item that was well over £1,000. The seller never contacted or replied to me, so I opened a case. After the normal waiting time, I asked eBay to review the case and it came up as pending. That was three days ago and still nothing. I understand that as it is a large amount they want to make sure it is not fraud, but really, I haven't got money like that for them to withhold. Has anyone come across this problem before? After 22 years with eBay, this has put me off buy anything expensive and when I called customer service, they were unable to help.

Mentor6 months agoFor a large sum of money I think it's a bit optimistic to have hoped for an answer within three days. "Pending" means they're looking into it. We often hear complaints that eBay has sided with the buyer without even considering the seller's side. So perhaps we should be thankful if they take the time to look into higher value cases more fully.
Whatever you do, don't run out of patience and file a dispute with PayPal or your payment provider while the eBay case is still open. Some buyers have done this, only to find that both cases are immediately closed!

Mentor6 months agoThey're probably waiting for it to clear. Give it a couple more days. If still no joy try ebay again. They're only as good as the person you get at the time. You might be lucky next time.
