Refunded item.not returned

HiI refunded a buyer for an item.that arrived, so ive asked for the item back and they haven't returned it and ive asked why they haven't sent it, they have said because ebay closed the case? Where do i stand and what's my best option here

If you refund before issuing a return label, the case closes and the buyer is told they can keep the item. Unless the buyer will cooperate with you outside of ebay, there is nothing you can do.

If you used Simple Deilvery if the buyer opened a "not received" case ebay would have issued the refund themselves (assuming it was an eligible item). But now you've refunded if the buyer won't co-operate I'm afraid there's nothing you can do.
