Refund wrongly sent
Hi All
I have an issue where a buyer contacted eBay in relation to an item that wasn't received initially. I explained to the buyer that I believe that there postage was wrong and that she would receive a request from RM stating that and when she received that she should send me a photo of the RM request payment and I would pay it directly. I returned from abroad late last night having visited my terminally ill brother. I saw today that the buyer was asking for a refund as the item had not arrived. I refunded the buy as she had requested and messaged her to let her know I had arranged the refund. She answered my message stating that she had received a note from RM yesterday and the item would be delivered tomorrow (Wednesday) she having paid the fee. She was aware that I was abroad returning last night. Can anybody help me with how I can now get my payment back please, of course minus the fee that she paid for the extra postage. I have asked her to contact eBay too. Any help would be gratefully received. Thank you in advance.

Mentor10 months agoUnfortunately this is now something outside eBay and between you and the buyer. They can pay you by example via PayPal or a bacs transfer obviously you can deduct the monies owing for the label. In your message to the buyer you need to clearly state that you are sharing details to receive a refund otherwise on occasion the eBay bots might think it’s an off site sale, and get a bit zealous and remove details.

Not sure if this is happening yet but ebay have announced -
From November 2025: If tracking shows delivered within 30 days after a seller has refunded, eBay will reimburse the item cost and remove any negative or neutral feedback directly linked to the claim and regarding delivery.
