Refund not received, can't appeal case?

Question

My refund was sent to an old closed bank account as there was a long period between when I ordered and when they said the item wouldn't arrive. My old bank has confirmed that the refund was sent back to the seller's account, but they will not resend it to my new account and ebay says I can't appeal and the case is closed. Everything takes me through a loop on the help and chat bot! Is my only chance to file a dispute with the bank?

Have you tried adding a valid account now to your eBay account? Any payments / refunds sent to a closed one, usually bounce back to eBay and await new direction.

Add your new account details with the link below, and use a laptop / PC for this not the app, Chrome is a good browser to use. It will take a few days for new details to be verified before any money can be sent there, don't expect it to happen immediately.

I am not sure what you were appealing about, normal procedure worked, the fact that your account was closed, is not grounds for appeal.

The return only happened about 3 weeks ago, so in time ebay should sort it out or contact you, ebay would not have matched up your claim of not receiving refund and money being returned due to going to a closed account. No doubt dealt with by a different department.

Refunds come from, and would go back to, ebay, not the seller. You also have only 30 days from expected delivery to make a valid claim through ebay. I don't really understand what has happened here.

Whether you can make a claim through a closed bank account is another question, but if all your ebay avenues are exhausted that may be your only choice.
