You say you provided label, in which case you had the tracking, which should have been loaded automatically when posted back to you! You also say Your case closed, what ever sort of case did you open, sellers can only open one case and that is for “unpaid”.
It does sound as though buyer opened a case and you did not respond through the case, which is why ebay automatically refunded.

It wasn't up to the buyer to return it. It was up to you to send him a prepaid, tracked return label, as eBay requires.
If you didn't, eBay will have enforced the refund without requiring the buyer to return the item. This is standard practice in an item not as described case when the seller fails to facilitate the return.
You are unlikely to win an appeal. eBay takes the buyer's word for faults and you accepted in the user agreement that eBay will decide whether items have to be returned.
You best hope is to contact the buyer and ask if they will kindly return the item if you arrange and pay for the return. But it can only be voluntary.

Mentor7 months agoSo you issued a returns label through the case, which was adequate for the item, the buyer didn’t use it and got a refund anyway?
That needs appealing as it goes against published policy.

Mentor8 months agoeBay tend to side with buyers and if a seller doesn't agree to a return they often refund without return or proof of return.
You can appeal the decision here:
