Hello, I bought a vax vacuum cleaner from a seller, I used only one month and it has one year warranty. from the beginning it was faulty with high noise and within one month it’s fully gone , now it couldn’t suck dust at all. I mean not working. I opened a return case, but eBay closed my case. I don’t know why ? While has fully 11 months warranty remain . I should to know why eBay has closed my case. They should to refund my money. Otherwise, I’ll never use eBay platform to buy anything but I love to use eBay platform to buy. I hope, ebay will re open the case and refund me. Thanks

What you should have done before buying anything of value on ebay, to see what orotection ebay offers is read the money back guarantee. Buying on ebay is like buying from an Ad. in a shop window. The shop keeper will not refund you under any circumstances.

Ebay's money back guarantee only covers the first 30 days from delivery. You must have opened your case after that so it was closed by the seller.

Warranties and guarantees are not covered by ebay, you need to deal directly with the seller.

Thanks. But this seller not responding me at all. I contacted seller several times but no reply. So if seller doesn’t reply then who will take this responsibility? I’m asking about seller fake warranty, which he is showing people to sell his product. Why eBay does not take any action against this fake warranty if seller does not respond? Then what’s the solution? I could have bought the product from shop and can take it back to the shop because of warranty but here on eBay platform if seller make people foolish then eBay will not take action on seller. So from now better to buy any product from Amazon or direct shop where this type of inconvenience shouldn’t be faced. Thanks

You are right, buying on ebay is not like buying in the shops.

Depending on the value you could ask Citizens advice for help.

You can use the telephone number on their listings under 'Seller contact information' to contact Customer Care team and get a return authorisation number.

It's sadly your problem.

As explained, eBay is a selling platform and cannot enforce any promises a seller makes. Any warranty offered by any seller is only ever going to be as good as your ability to enforce is when required, something to consider when buying your item.

You're correct in that if you want an enforceable warranty you need to buy from a high street store or the brands website.

However, if you funded your payment with a debit or credit card you should have 120 days to contact your card provider and issue a not as described chargeback. Your card provider may require some kind of report from a professional repairer that the item has developed a fault not caused by you, then you should get a full refund.
