Refund
Hi everyone, I really need some advice please.
I bought a side mirror on eBay believing it would fit my car. Unfortunately, when it arrived and I checked properly, I realised it does not fit my vehicle at all. I did not install or damage it — the glass is completely intact and the item is still in good condition.
I contacted the seller immediately to request a return and refund, but the seller has declined the refund, even though the item is unsuitable.
I only bought the mirror because I had a minor accident and urgently needed a replacement, so this situation has been really stressful.
Please, how do I go about getting my refund back?
What steps can I take through eBay or consumer rights to resolve this?
Any advice or shared experience would be really appreciated. Thank you 🙏

Mentor6 months agoIf the seller has a No Returns policy on that listing, they do not have to accept a return for a refund for the reason... ' does not fit' , as this also covers a change of mind reason, and sellers can refuse that request.

Mentor6 months agoIf the seller has refused a return you can't do anything else on ebay but contact your payment provider and ask them about a refund or chargeback. If it was not described correctly say that. Do not say it doesn't fit.

The important question is the seller's stated returns policy, which you will find in the listing. If they don't accept returns that isn't theft, it's the condition you accepted when buying the item.
The only recent feedback you have received is from a car parts supplier. If this is the seller, they do accept returns (with the buyer paying the return postage). If they refuse to honour this returns policy you need to contact eBay customer support, who can if necessary convert whatever procedure you used into a money back guaranee case. They will not be able to refuse this, and will also have to send you a prepaid return label.
It's hard to be more exact as we don't know for sure whether this is the same seller, or exactly what procedure you used to request the refund. Good luck anyway.

Mentor6 months agoDid the seller you bought from have returns accepted on the listing, and what was the stated returns period?
If they accept returns but you are outside of that period there is no point contacting ebay.

Mentor6 months agoAs advised, if you are out of the 30 day period ( are you?) then turn to your payment provider now for help with your refund, most have a 120 day protection policy.
If within the 30 days, open a case for item not as described... ' Does Not Match Description or Photos. '
Escalate on day 4 if not refunded beforehand. Come back to us if you need help opening this case, but you must be within 30 days of the item's last estimated date for delivery.
