Question Regarding Returns (As a Buyer)
Summary: jherekp-33 shared their experience about a return issue with an item ordered from China. Although the seller provided excellent support by issuing a return label, jherekp-33 is unable to mark the item as dispatched on their account due to tracking details being inaccessible. They are concerned that this situation might allow the seller to claim they never received the return.
Hi, i recently had an item sent to me from china which turned out to be the wrong one. The seller has been brilliant so far and is due to receive the return tomorrow. I was issued with a returns label which was all good. However under my account i am unable to click item is dispatched because it wants me to fill out the tracking details and they are greyed out. Google says this is because the seller has issued the return label and it is to prevent conflicting information. That is ok, but because i cannot mark it as dispatched, ebay have no way of knowing that i have actually returned it as i cannot find the tracking info anywhere in my account. So by my thinking what is to stop the seller saying he never received it?

MentorJul 19, 2026 at 9:27 AMOnce the item has been received back by the seller, give them a chance to issue a refund. I'd wait 3 days and then message them and point out that the label they issued you with tracking number XXXXX, shows delivery on (date). If they don't issue a refund within a couple of days contact eBay.
