Question on item that got lost in post and finally arrived
Summary: yrrhman sold an item that was lost in the post but then eventually arrived at the buyer's location. The buyer mentioned that their bank initially refunded them, and eBay is involved in a dispute. yrrhman is seeking advice on whether the buyer owes payment now that the item has been delivered. **peaseblossom** advised checking with eBay for coverage details, but yrrhman clarified that they used a different postage service. tobiasd4 suggested resolving the matter directly with the buyer by sending a polite message.
Hi all.
Recently I sold an item and posted it in July. The item got lost in the post at Greenford, and I had to refund the buyer. I called royal mail but the post service I selected only covered £75 while the item was worth 150. Today I got a message from the buyer saying that the item finally arrived - and also that his bank where the ones who refunded him and ebay are disputing with them? He also says ebay will be the ones to cover the item cost… My question is whether this is true and what steps I should take to get paid for the item. Thanks

Mentor1 month agoYou could if practical send buyer a paypal invoice, as there is no way for any payments to be made through the ebay system.

Mentor1 month agoIf you used ebay's sinple delivery postage ebay should have issued the refund and you keep the payment - as long as the item was covered, precious gems and metals are not.
If you believe that you should have been covered try and speak to someone at ebay. Click on help at top of page, select subject then type in "speak to agent". Repeat until you get through.

OP1 month agoI don’t think it was ebay simple delivery. It auto selected yodel store to door but every store i went to said that they couldn’t accept it as the parcel was too big (I measured it it was within the size limit). anyway I got fed up and bought a royal mail postage label from ebay and used that instead. the question is really wether the buyer now owes me payment for the item since it’s been delivered

Mentor1 month agoAs you didn't use the simple delivery label, ebay won't help.
It is between you and buyer if they refund you.
Send a polite message to ask.
