Problems with eBay
Summary: theslickstock is encountering issues with eBay, as their account was permanently restricted after a request to provide proof of inventory. Despite submitting second-hand receipts and bank statements, eBay allegedly only accepts retail receipts. theslickstock is frustrated as eBay has withheld over £6,000 without any unresolved cases or debts, and is seeking legal advice on how to resolve the situation. john1297576 suggests that eBay might be cautious due to the sale of high-priced items, which seem to require proof of ownership.
I have recently been asked by eBay to provide proof of inventory
I submitted everything they asked for, purchase receipt and well as bank statement to match the amounts.
They keept on saying they only accept retail receipt, I explained that I have second hand receipts as well as bank statement
every single business seller on ebay sells 2nd hand products
Today I wake up to find an email from eBay saying they're permanently restricted my account
Not only is this a major insult but they have also kept my entire payout (more than £6k)
I tried to go to help page to chat or request a callback but the only option that appears is emai which they are not going to even respond.
key points:
there are NONE unresolved issues on my account, no cases, no debts or anything
it was a completely random check likely due to an increase on sales
SURELY is not legal for them to just STEAL the entire payout without any cause whatsoever, and without not a single case opened or unresolved?
What kind of lawyer do I need in this case?
or how can I actually speak to a human to get my account reinstated? this is so random

Mentor2 weeks agoI think ebay releases fund when all possibility of any claims being made.
You say you sell second hand, but a lot of expensive items have been sold, described as Unopened, others as opened but never used, tending to imply brand new, which is no doubt why ebay are concerned about proof of ownership.

OP2 weeks agoI have provided everything they've asked.
I am a reseller, I buy from multiple sources, I make valid bill of sale for each purchase I make, I have even provided bank transactions and statement that match each purchase.
Apparently they are not satisfied unless its sourced from retail.
I operate in same fashion as CeX and Cash Converters
I spend a lot of money on advertising to acquire inventory
today they decided the final decision is to ban me for concerns, automated reply.
more than 10y of selling, no defects, 100% positive rate, no defects.
at least they mention that a payout will eventually be issues up to 6 months after, which in itself is ridiculous.
