Problem generating label because "SKU is too long"
Summary: marina_john encountered an issue where they receive an error message about the SKU being too long when trying to generate a prepaid shipping label for Schlatum leather wallets. They attempted solutions by adjusting the SKU and changing shipping preferences, but the problem persists. tobiasd4 suggested that private sellers might not need SKUs and referenced a policy about upgrading to a business account. john1297576 shared best practices for creating SKUs, recommending keeping them short, and inquired about the length of the current SKU.
We have sold multiple wallets from our listing of Schlatum leather wallets and never had a problem. When we previously clicked "Get prepaid label" it gave us the QR code and the label for sending by EVRI.
We recently changed our preference to Royal Mail. Having now sold another wallet, whenever we click "Get prepaid label" we get the message, 'cannot generate the label. SKU too long'.
We have revised the listing to ensure the SKU is less than 50 characters and saved it.
BUT each time we try to generate the label, we get the same message blocking us from doing do. We even reversed our preference to EVRY again, but still the same issue keeps arising.
Has anyone come across a solution to this?
Thanks,
Marina and John

Best Practices for Creating SKUs
If you are setting up an inventory system using resources like Shopify or Investopedia, keep these rules in mind:
Keep it short: Aim for 32 characters or fewer so the data fits into all of your systems.
How many characters are you using?

If you hold stock, you need to upgrade to a business.
