Posting Valuables

Question

I'm selling some silver items in the UK and the insurance provided with most postage options will not cover them (as Valuables). Royal Mail Special Delivery will cover the silver items, but it is not being offered as an option with Ebay's new 'Simple Delivery'. Is there a solution?

Generally silver items are not covered by Simple Delivery seller protection so you should be able to opt out of SD and use your own choice of postage. The opt-out will depend on category or sub-category so do a bit of trial and error to find a category that suits you.

If you have problems with that you could list with free postage, factor that cost into your item price and buy your own postage outside of ebay. There would still be a SD label but you can claim a refund for it. You can't change tracking number but you would be able to add the new number to a "not received" case if that were necessary. Payment may be held for 14 days.
