I have a possible buyer of an item who wishes to know the costs of sending to America. I am a private seller. At the time of the initial request I wasn't aware that I was enrolled with GSP, eBay had informed the buyer that I was. Since the request I have been seeking postage/custom charges from Post Offices, the last one quoted for a large letter, the others quoted for a small parcel. I was about to message the buyer about the letter costs when I then checked about GSP and then decided to cancel my involvement, which may prove to be the wrong thing to have done. I have tried to use the chat assistant without success and when using the 0800 number haven't got past ' am I a buyer or a seller' question. I feel utterly useless in trying to make this sale straightforward and would understand totally if the buyer loses interest. Any help would be appreciated, thank you.

Be aware that if you send the item to the buyer in the US via Royal you'll need to pay the tariff fee (10%) + £1.50 admin fee (50p if you buy your postage online) upfront.

Mentor3 months agoIf you wish to avoid GSP which is expensive for buyer as he pays two lots of tracked postage then opt out.
Working out postage to the USA look at Royal Mail booklet Our prices. It is pointlesss asking for quotes from PO, you have all the information to work it out from booklet, all you have to decide is method of postage, then use weight, but PO can advise on Tariffs, as I think they have to be paid in advance, if not paid there is a risk of package not being delivered but returned to the UK.

Mentor3 months agoYou can opt out of GSP here:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/ship/prf
but will need to end the listing and relist with direct postage to US on it.
You can look up postage prices on the Royal Mail website. You need international zone 3. Import duty is up to the buyer to check at their end.
