If the battery is inside the device as long as its securely packed in a rigid box with your sender details to the outside and the correct labelling (provided at the post office.)
If the return case you have opened is insisting on a return contact Customer Services and explain that it cannot be returned. Hopefully, they can refund you directly.
I strongly recommend contacting CS 8 a.m. on a weekday when the lines open for ' live agents' as then, there's more chance of Dublin answering.
This is the easiest and quickest way to contact eBay Customer Services, for a Call Back option.
