postage to China

Question

Hi I have sent a package tom China Tracked with royal Mail, the buyer has told me the package is being held in customs, and he has to pay a 20% excess, am I liable for this thanks Roger

Sounds like China customs caught the buyer out then. You should not have done that by the way.

It is illegal to falsify customs paperwork, your buyer in this instance and it happens all the time in Asia will ask to put zero etc on customs paperwork as tariffs in are quite high, however it is not an excuse.

You are not liable, the buyer is, and if they fail to pay they invalidate the ebay money back gaurantee.

That depends on whether you paid the correct postage and filled out all the export documentation correctly. It would help to know what the '20%' is actually for.
