Bought a PS5 and was given a delivery notification that it was undeliverable and then a minute later a notice that it was delivered. This was immediately suspicious as I was at home with several others and we have Ring cameras that showed nobody came to the property. When I checked the picture of the delivery it was a random picture at an address that wasn't mine (Royal Mail GPS said it was nowhere near my home) and the box in the picture is clearly not a PS5 as it is a tiny box that could never fit a PS5. I messaged the seller and no reply as of yet. I have to wait days for Royal Mail to redirect the parcel that isn't even my item. I saw the seller sold 5 of these items so I suspect 5 of us have been scammed. Trying to solve this issue via Ebay and it's AI responses I feel I am just going round in circles.

Mentor1 week ago · EditedThe correct way forward here is to open an eBay item not received claim, making it clear that the delivery address isn't yours and that the GPS coordinates clearly prove this.
If you lose the eBay claim you should see an Appeal link in the decision, use that. A human should then take a look at it.
If that then fails, and you paid with a debit/credit card of Apple Pay contact your card provider and issue a not received chargeback.

OP1 week agoThey said they need to assume that it was delivered to the wrong address and need 3 working days to go and get it and redeliver. This is, I assume then they will also realise it's a scam. The seller will then be able to bill them for a loss of item and get paid twice. Someone told me this is the scam that operates on Ebay now.

Mentor1 week agoCan't see a profitable scam there for the buyer, they can't get paid twice, and I'd be surprised if Royal Mail go and retrieve the package and redirect it to you. If you do end up with it you open an eBay return by selecting the 'doesn't match description or photos' reason and return whatever you do receive back to the buyer and get a full refund. Come back here if you do receive something and we'll advise how to proceed.

OP1 week agoIt's profitable for the seller...not for me. Because it shows as delivered Royal Mail can get a claim put in from the seller and have to refund him for the item. Royal Mail told me this on the phone. This is something they are familiar with apparently.

Mentor1 week agoIf the sequence of events is that the seller has to refund you (which they will) and they get refunded by RM I'm still failing to see how they have a result here?

OP1 week agoThey didn't sell a real PS5. That is the scam. Even if the pic is what they sent it is a tiny little box that could never fit a games console. They are potentially reimbursed for something they didn't really sell. And they sold 5 of them and the next day had Meta Glasses for sale. So probably making a lot of money.

Mentor1 week agoI'm aware of how the scam works, I've been dealing with buyers and this one for a couple of decades, I'm just trying to explain that the seller doesn't end up making anything out of this.

Mentor1 week agoebay will not help if tracking shows as delivered, so contact your payment provider, they will be more helpful in starting a chargeback.
