POSTAGE PROBLEMS
Summary: 573miriamg is facing issues with setting correct postage rates on eBay for lightweight items, as they are being pushed to use higher postage options that may deter customers. **peaseblossom** suggests offering free postage by factoring the cost into the item price and handling postage independently. tommystrezures mentions a known problem affecting postage settings, but notes that a recent attempt suggests the issue might be resolved. They encourage 573miriamg to check if the problem persists.
I Want to list items such as postcards and small lightweight items which should be posted as small letter size (around £1 for postage) never had problems before but now Ebay seems to want me to post as Simple Delivery Large Letter with a charge of £2.70 for postage, is there any way I can add my own postage as Custom Delivery does not seem to be working and if I have to list at £2.70 for postage for something which knowingly should be around £1 then my customers won't want to bid on my items. Please advise?

MentorAug 18, 2026 at 11:04 AMJust complete postage policy, entering 2nd class post and cost. Cost can include P & P and is not fixed like Simple delivery. Custom postage should show.
Postcards are exempt from having to use SD. If necessary play around with categories.

Please advise back here as if there is still an issue we can get it looked into. Also if its working as it should again please let us know. Thanks

MentorAug 18, 2026 at 7:00 AMThere is a known problem at the moment waiting to be fixed. Hopefully that will be soon.
@**peaseblossom** the issue being described means you cannot offer buyer pays postage etc.

MentorAug 17, 2026 at 9:40 PMYou could list with free postage, factor that cost into your item price and buy your own postage outside of eBay. There would still be a SD label but you can claim a refund for it. Payment may be held for 14 days.
