Postage Preferences/Labels
Summary: micbr_8101 expressed frustration with eBay for not adhering to their set postage preferences, which are limited to Royal Mail, when they needed to send an item to Italy. Despite having clear settings and policies, eBay only offered more expensive options through other carriers like Evri or DPD. They pointed out the inconvenience of needing to manually go to the post office, which defeats the purpose of having preferences on the platform.
I recently sold an item (to Italy) where the listing clearly showed as Custom Postage. My Business Poatage Policy shows only Royal Mail and my Postage Preferences excludes anything other than Royal Mail.
Why, then, when buying a postage label from Ebay, are the only options I am given Evri or DPD, the cheapest of which is nearly 5 times the cost of Royal Mail?
I know that there is a simple solution (ie go to the Post Office and deal with it, but that really is an icconvenience, not only for me, but for many other people too), but that's not really the point. Why do I bother with policies/preferences if Ebay ignores them?

OP3 weeks agoJust to add that the simple solution is not so simple. I took my package to the Post Officfe where I was told I had to pay the Italian Import Duty in adavance. I cannot absorb this extra cost (it looks like approx 12.5%) so I will have to cancel the order, no doubt getting a black mar from Ebay as a result!!!
