Postage label refund and different tracking number
Summary: gacunni-3647 is seeking advice after using Royal Mail Special Delivery to send an item and mistakenly assuming they could cancel an eBay-generated label. They faced issues getting a refund for the label and provided the buyer with the correct tracking number. tommystrezures responded, advising that notifying the buyer was the correct step, though it may delay the payment process.
Hi, I’ve used Royal Mail Special Delivery to post an item of jewellery to ensure compensation and mistakenly thought I could cancel the eBay generated label. I’ve tried to cancel the label in the system without success so I don’t seem to be able to get it refunded and now realise that there is a different tracking number been sent to the buyer. I’ve messaged her with the correct tracking number. What else do I need to do to ensure eBay records the item as being delivered? I can’t find any way to do this. I’d appreciate your help.

Mentor1 month agoIf it was simple delivery you don't. YOu have done the correct thing in letting the seller know that you have dispatched via SD with the tracking. All it will mean is that you will have a delay in the payment reaching you of 14 or so days, if not longer if an infrequent seller.

OP1 month agoThanks, that’s reassuring. Do you have any advice as to how to avoid paying eBay for postage the next time I want to use RM Special Delivery for jewellery?
Many thanks
