Please Help! I got scammed
Summary: professorrock shared their experience of purchasing fridge displays on eBay for £165, which were never received despite the seller allegedly providing 'proof of delivery.' eBay closed the case without a refund, and professorrock expressed frustration at the inability to contact a real person at eBay Customer Support. papso22 asked if the case was opened within 30 days of the expected delivery, while tobiasd4 suggested trying the payment provider for a resolution.
I bought fridge displays from a seller on eBay in August, costing around £165. The seller told me he had sent the items via Royal Mail using an untracked service. The items never arrived.
After waiting a month and receiving nothing but meaningless messages, I asked for a refund and left negative feedback. I thought eBay had a Money Back Guarantee for situations like this. Apparently not.
The seller then asked eBay Customer Service to step in and somehow provided “proof of delivery” despite the fact that the items were supposedly sent untracked and I never received anything. eBay closed the case and denied my refund.
I have been trying all day to contact eBay Customer Support to explain what happened, but I cannot get through to a real person. It seems everything is handled by AI, and there is no obvious way to speak to someone who can actually review the evidence and listen to me.
At this point, it looks like I have lost £165 to a seller who I believe has provided false information, and eBay has closed the case without giving me a meaningful opportunity to challenge it.
What has happened to eBay? It used to feel like a safe place to shop because buyers were protected. Now I can’t even speak to someone when something goes seriously wrong.
I honestly feel completely helpless. Has anyone experienced something similar, or know how I can get this case reviewed by a real person?

MentorSep 18, 2026 at 5:09 PMEbay does have a THIRTY DAYS money back guarantee, but you left it too late.
Waiting a month is never wise, as once out of time ebay will do nothing, so pointless trying to explain anything.
