phone bought under one year guarantee
I bought a phone under a year ago with a one year warranty. I never managed to get it to do wi-fi hotspots and it sat in a box for most of the year. I tried again recently and the battery failed. I contacted the seller 3 times - first time 4 days ago - and have had no reply. How do I proceed with this? Ebay does not seem to have a mechanism for older articles like this. Or have I overlooked something?

Mentor8 months agoYou cannot report this to eBay as they do not offer warranties or guarantees on items, just that they are just as described on receipt. If they are not, a buyer has 30 days under eBay's 30 day MBG, Money Back Guarantee policy, to return the item for a full refund.
If you bought this from a Private seller you are too late to claim a refund. You could try your payment provider most have a 120 day protection policy , if you are still within that timeline.
If purchased from a registered UK business, who offered a guarantee and is now not upholding this, then turn to Citizens Advice for your next steps, if you wish to take this further.

OP8 months agoOK thanks. However, it was not supplied as secondhand but was advertised as having best battery life A+. In ebay I can't find the original advert - I only get directed to the shop's latest products. How do I find the original ad to check how the terms and conditions vary from the law?

Mentor8 months agoLook in your purchases, they go back several years, but in my opinion you have left it far too late.
On purchases page right side click See All.

OP8 months agoThanks John. Yes I can see the view order details but no more details of the original advert. As to whether it is too late, it depends on which country you are in and how the product was advertised. In the small print the company says battery faults are specifically excluded but that may not be legal in the UK.

I just did a ' practise run' and checked an item I purchased a year ago. All details of the listing and all details of the order details / payment are visible.
I'm using a laptop with Chrome. If you're using the app or mobile browser, you'll have more luck with a desktop browser and try Chrome, that seems to work well with eBay.
