Personalized registration number scam.
I'll keep this short, recently sold a private plate (Retention Certificate), against all advice I sent the certificate in order to get paid. The buyer is now backing out and wants a refund. In my view the scam is they now have the certificate number, which is all they need to assign the registration number. Returning the Certificate is pointless.
I spend several hours last night looking for help, no luck everything is heavily biased toward the buyer. Nothing covers this situation.

Mentor9 months agoWhy ever send to get paid, if you had sold anything else, you only post after being paid. Expensive way to learn a lesson. Buyer knew what he was doing and you fell for it.

Mentor9 months agoThis is just another example of the risks of selling on ebay. Whatever you sell you risk losing the item and the money.
Unless you can report to the DVLA you are stuck. It's similar to selling gift cards, buyer uses them and then asks to return.
