Partial refund agreed due to missing items
Summary: luda9507 discussed an issue with a purchased toy that arrived with missing parts. They arranged a partial refund with the seller, but the seller stopped responding. **peaseblossom** and john1297576 explained that eBay doesn’t handle partial refunds and recommended a 'Not as described' return case to handle such issues more effectively. luda9507 appreciated the advice.
A ordered a hard-to-find kids toy for a birthday present, however on receiving the item I found there were parts missing. The toy was still useable and I was able to order alternatives for the missing items instead of sending the whole package back andthen not having a present for the kids birthday. I provided evidence of this and explained to the seller I was happy to keep if he agreed a partial refund which they offered with no issues and an apology. Now theyre not responding and I can't understand how I can get ebay to step in as they just say ' Return item for refund'. Any help appreciated.. thanks

Mentor3 weeks agoPartial refund is between you and seller, it is not enforceable.
You should have opened a Not as described return case, then seller could offer a partial refund, then if he did not make partial refund within say 3 days, you could then escalate to ebay for a full refund.
By accepting an item that was not complete, you do the seller a favour as he knows you cannot force any action.

Mentor3 weeks agoebay will only refund when item has been returned. They don't get involved with partial refunds.
