Outside of eBay

Question

seller on eBay wanted to sell outside of eBay so I went and seen the car but was scammed out of £3700 when car was dropped off bumper was cracked ac wasn’t working leaking diesel crank pulley fell off while driving

Just what can I do

eBay don't offer any cover for motors, it's the same as buying a car anywhere - you go to see it and check it over (or take somebody with you who knows about cars), check that the documentation matches the name and address of the seller and that there's no outstanding finance on it, and only then do you pay.

There is no ebay protection on ebay for vehicles.

Payment is between you and seller, no ebay payments.

If you inspected the car before delivery, why didn't you notice damage?

If trader report to trading standards.

Unfortunately you decided to do business outside of Ebay, so Im afraid you cant expect Ebay to support you in this issue - If you know their name and address you could try and take them to the small claims courts

I’ve told eBay about this seller on eBay but surprise surprise nothing done again Car trader on here with no checks or anything
