Opinion on what I should do
Summary: 18catsrfurryfriends ordered an item that was supposed to be delivered, but the seller has informed them it is not in stock and suggested canceling the order. 18catsrfurryfriends is unsure whether to agree to the cancellation or insist the seller cancel due to being out of stock, which would affect the seller's record. john1297576 advises that sellers are the only ones who can officially cancel the order using 'out of stock' as the reason, which would result in a defect for the seller.
I order an item on the 29 August, delivery was estimated by today.
I noted that it had not been despatched so emailed seller.
She has come back to me saying the following
Sorry about this, just had a look and I thought we had it but can't find it, please cancel the sale and I will update my listings.
In my view I am not wanting to cancel it as I want the item (she knows this will go against her so I could either be nice and do it or say I am not the want that wants to cancel you cancel as out of stock in so many words)
or do a INR.
What would other people do in this situation.
Thanks

OP1 month agoI know that is what she is avoiding doing but I will go back to her and say that as she is unable to supply she needs to cancel it and if she does not do that I will do a INR in a couple of day.

Mentor1 month agoBuyers cannot cancel, only seller can cancel, which she should do using out of stock as the reason.
Seller gets a defect, which she is trying to avoid by getting you to agree to cancellation.
