OPEN BASKET AND TASKS
Summary: thedudesstuff shared concerns about eBay's new 'open basket' feature that allows buyers to add items to their order for up to three hours without any visible countdown or notifications encouraging further purchases. They highlighted that this feature adds a delay to shipping and criticized the replacement of the TASKS section with 'READY TO RESELL'. john1297576 added that many users don't read available information, pointing to frequent repetitive questions on forums as evidence. Both emphasize a need for better communication and functionality for sellers.
So eBay has added to orders a countdown so buyers may add to the basket and order I think up to 3hours - after making a purchase they can then browse your store add further items and a total price worked out when time runs out.
The thing is - the BUYER does not seem to be informed of this new idea - there is no encouragement to go add more items - so they may think after a purchase thy will just be charged additional shipping per after - they also do not know that effectively their order in old hold an additional 3 hours - with many people then shopping between 6 and 9pm - ROYAL MAIL has a collection window for next day that closes approx 9pm - IF someone buyer up til that im usually able to arrange a next day collection.
Now with the open basket idea it adds a day to shipping - as I rq collections.
With all this being said eBay seems to have replaces the TASKS section on the main page with READY TO RESELL - as much use as LIVE stuff which is about as useful
LIVE only seems to mimic TIK TOK with videos and such and honestly I wish I could turn it all off in prefs somehow.
Now then when the basket time ends this SALE is no longer pushed to the TASKS window to inform SELLERS they have items to ship.
Your orders sit in the ORDERS section requiring sellers to constantly check not only if they have any orders but if those orders are still open?
The open basket is a great idea LET THE BUYERS KNOW
The countdown in the orders section is great LET THE BUYERS KNOW show them the countdown as a seller I do not need to know this do i?
ALL I need to know is when that window closes the information of my sales is pushed to the TASKS window on the main homepage
HOW have the broke this so much and thought this was a good idea - agents I speak to seem to have idea and worse to not care....

OP2 weeks agoI agree no one reads my listing they just just look at the pictures then message me with questions already there.
All im hoping is that eBay does not take away its most basic function like letter a seller know when an item is sold - it could be in the BELL icon top right or in the now gone TASKS section. As I understand this is a private seller issue tho with Simple delivery and not for Business sellers
as I hate typing such answers over and over I made a bunch of these to just attatch with basic answers - I just think removing the TASKS section from main page is a bad idea...

Mentor2 weeks agoIt does not matter what information ebay provides, no one reads anything, as can be seen by the questions on here which are repeated several times a day, despite the information requested already bei on the listing page.
