Offer accepted but selected delivery method changed
Today I made an offer on an item, and selected "Free collection in person" as the delivery method. The total shown as being immediately / automatically payable if the offer was accepted was correct i.e. without any postage costs.
The offer was accepted almost immediately, but the amount paid was including postage, and all the confirmations from eBay indicated the item will be posted.
I have contacted the seller to ask if they changed it (is this possible for a seller to do?) and if I can still collect it.
I have contacted eBay, but they only offered resolutions such as the seller refunding the postage, or cancelling / relisting - no advice on why this happened, or whether it is a known issue.
It's all very frustrating, especially as I was hoping to pay cash on collection. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this issue, and if eBay have any plans to improve the system for people to pay cash on collection?

Mentor11 months agoNot sure what happened when you selected collection in person and a postage charge was then showing when offer was accepted.
Customer Services are correct, the seller should cancel the order selecting Buyer Requests to Cancel, this way, their seller performance is not affected, if they're not sure you can assure them of this. This also refunds you if you have paid. Then to relist as Collection only.
Be aware, you are not allowed to pay cash on collection anymore, after purchase you need to finalise at eBay checkout with payment via card, PayPal / Google / Apple pay etc. and only then, are contact details allowed to be exchanged.

OP11 months agoThanks for the quick reply, I've messaged the seller asking how they would like to resolve, but no response yet.
I know it might appear that I just didn't select collection, but I absolutely definitely 100% did! I know this as just before I clicked to send the offer, I noticed that the auto charge amount included postage, so actively found where to change it (not intuitive on a phone), went in to the delivery option and clicked Collection, went back to the offer screen, checked that the offer amount was now without postage, then clicked Make Offer.
I know people have had similar issues with offers trying to use click & collect, so just wondering if this is related?
PS thanks for the heads up re cash on collection - another frustration added by eBay!!
