Non return of faulty item after refund given
sold a camera to an ebay buyer and whe it arrived at the buyer he informed me of a fault, I immediately refunded in full and expected the camera back , but it has not appeared, I have messaged the buyer six or seven times, buit he refuses to respond.
I have searched e-bay (Useless) help files abut cannot get any way to complain as they hae taken it on themselves to "close" the return the camera does not even show up in my sold items so I cannot tick the appropriate box to identify which item I am complaining about. Any assistance to get e-bays attention would be appreciated
I think the buyer is "at it" and never intended returning the camera, I have a feeling the "Fault" is immaginary too. He thinks he is going to get to keep the £170 I refunded

In other words, you trusted the buyer to return the camera, but they didn't.
I'm afraid this is just one of several common situations in which dishonest buyers can keep items for nothing.
eBay will have no interest; it was your choice not to use their return procedure. If you had used it, eBay would have required the buyer to provide tracking proof of return before issuing a refund.
Whether you could sucessfully sue the buyer I don't know. Otherwise, you can only learn from your mistake. Regrettably, there's not much room for trust on eBay.

Mentor10 months agoWhen sellers refund before return ebay assume they don't want it back and no longer supply a postage label to the buyer. Case closed.
You could try Moneyclaim online (formerly the small claims court). Google for details. Tell buyer what you intend. It might prompt him to send it back.

Mentor10 months agoEbay does not expect sellers to refund before they get their item back (having issued a paid for returns label first).
If a seller does refund first then ebay doesn't expect the buyer to return the item.
There is therefore no point in complaining to ebay.
