No option to set item as dispatched
Hi,
I have sent an item to a buyer and they have confirmed receipt, however there
seems no way to mark the item as dispatched. I used postage outside of
eBay as the options from this site did not include any insurance.
So I took it to the post office and and sent it.
Can anyone advise on how I can change this status?
Thanks

OP10 months agoThanks for your speedy response.
I didn't know the £3.50 delivery charge would include cover, could have
saved myself £14.50 😞
So I get the label from eBay (the £3.50) then I add my tracking number from
Royal Mail
Special delivery but to where? Sorry if I'm being dumb, don't really
understand your
second sentence.
Cheers
Dave

Your switch had eBay simple delivery as the option which comes with up to
£750 cover you didn't need to buy your own.
You will have to get the label from the sale, obviously it wont be used but
you can then add your new tracking number and the buyer will be refunded
the postage in around 40 days.

Mentor10 months agoYou can manually update the tracking, and use a laptop / PC for this. Chrome works well too.
For the unused Simple Delivery label:
You may wish to read how Simple Delivery works for Private sellers and what it covers.

Mentor10 months agoFirst mark the item as dispatched by opening the original pre-paid Simple Delivery label. It will remain unused.
Then add the new tracking number via View Order Details > Postage > Track Package > dropdown arrow > Add Tracking. That has to be done on a desktop browser.
Assuming the buyer paid for the original label the cost will be automatically refunded to them in 30 days.
eBay's Simple Delivery postage automatically covers sellers for up to £750 for loss or damage in transit, as long as the buyer opens the correct claim (ie. either a "Not received" case or a return using the reason "Item damaged").
