New seller account permanently restricted shortly after adding payout card — no reason given
Summary: vivereatelier, a new seller of pre-owned designer clothing, shared their experience of having their account permanently restricted shortly after adding a bank card for payouts. Despite reaching out to support twice, they were unable to obtain a specific reason for the restriction and have submitted a Subject Access Request for more information. fargvs suggested rechecking the Managed Payments setup and referred to resources that could help ensure payments are correctly set up to a UK-based bank account, rather than a card.
Hi all, I'm a brand new seller (joined this month) and wanted to share my experience in case anyone has dealt with something similar, or has advice.
I listed around 13 items (pre-owned designer clothing) and shortly after adding my bank card to set up payouts, my account was restricted. I contacted support twice and was told on both calls that the restriction is final, but the specific reason couldn't be shared with me. I've lost the ability to sell on the platform entirely with no explanation.
I've since submitted a Subject Access Request to try to get more clarity, since I understand support agents may not always have visibility into the underlying reason.
I know a lot of you in this community have years of selling history and established feedback, so this might be a less common issue for established sellers — but for anyone starting fresh, has this happened to you? Did the timing (right after adding a payout method) seem to be a factor for you too? Any insight into what new sellers can do differently to avoid this would be appreciated.
Thanks for reading.
