I've just had the first sale in months! I sell collectable items which have always sold well over the past few years, but no longer. I don't use Ebay's enhanced selling options which may have something to do with it.
My big concern now is that I just sold an item and had to ship it without payment until it has been delivered! I always use Royal Mail's 48 Signature or Special Delivery services (UK seller) to ensure the parcels get delivered personally and are not left on doorsteps. The parcel was delivered and positive feedback left. 2 days later, no payment! I spoke to an Ebay rep. last night on the phone (Ebay chat is useless) and was informed that because I did not use Ebay's 'Simple Service' (unsigned for) I will now have to wait 14 days for my payment. This is the last straw for me. I've always gone to great lengths to ensure my customers get the very best service I can provide for them (check my feedback) and now Ebay want to treat me like a 'Cash Cow' to make a little bit of 'Interest' on my cash in their bank account for 14 additional days. Because of this policy I'm most probably going to end my other listings and certainly not waste my time leaving 'Feedback' on future purchases because it is pointless. Ebay's greed and ridiculous policies have made me realise they are no longer the platform I feel comfortable selling on. What a shame and a waste of Ebay's once great reputation.

Mentor6 months agoebay does not make any interest, it is not allowed on what is termed electronic money.
The problem with your funds and being held, for a time is most likely to do with your status.

OP6 months agoI’m pretty sure I should qualify because of my sales in the last five years but my Ebay history doesn’t go back that far so I have to rely on Ebay’s assessment. My feedback should be enough to assess wether or not I’m a reliable seller, I thought that was the point of feedback.
Saying that, I’m still not happy sending items that are not paid for. Once I sell an item, it no longer belongs to me therefore I do everything in my power to get the item safe and sound to he new owner. The way I see it, I’m taking a chance due to unscrupulous buyers by sending items that have not been paid for. I’m uncomfortable trading this way.

Your buyer has paid for it, it's trackable and you're covered for up to £750 against loss or damage.

OP6 months agoBecause what I sell are collectable items and can no longer be bought in the shops I need to know my buyers will not experience damaged items or even worse, items being left on the doorstep and then being stolen. It’s not just about the money, it’s about a reliable service.
