Neither Ebay nor the seller are helping with my return request
Summary: okech_76 is facing difficulties with returning a mistakenly ordered item on eBay, noting challenges in obtaining a return label and navigating eBay's automated help options. They are frustrated with the lack of response from both eBay's customer service and the seller, despite having agreed on a return. The participant compares the ease of returns on Amazon, expressing concern as the return deadline approaches. *vyolla* and papso22 ask for more details and suggest checking if the seller accepts returns for change of mind to obtain a label.
Starting with the label, this is my first return request via EBay(at least the first I made enough time to try and understand ) and I learnt from several post services that I was supposed to get a label for it. But no one is helping me with this.
And when it comes to contacting Ebay about this I'm forced to go around circles with their AI chat service alone. When I went to the help menu they gave me instructions to click on stuff that don't exist on the return page for the item. No number/chat service to contact an actual person to help me.
I asked the seller, he never even responded, even after our agreement on what more to expect for the return via. messages, the seller didn't respond through the same platform when it come to my request for the label.
If I wanted to make a return for something bought on Amazon, for example, I won't have to contact a seller to ask for a return label or I would have a help service number to call in case it doesn't work out as expected or I would even have the label readily available to print if I need to.
I'm now 5 days to the dispatch deadline for what I want to return, yet Ebay is still making it complicated for me.
Bear in mind this is for a product that somehow got ordered, despite me not really wanting it. So I haven't even used it.
What now?

Have you received a returns label?

Basically, the order was made by mistake and it's oversized.

MentorAug 13, 2026 at 5:08 AMHave you opened a case for change of mind and does the seller accept returns on that basis? If so, a label should have been generated in the case.

MentorAug 13, 2026 at 11:19 AMThe seller is not obliged to accept a return unless they're a business seller or it says that they accept returns on the listing.
If they accept returns, you open a return request and select 'change of mind' as the reason. The seller accepts the return and then there's an option for you to buy an eBay return label.
How far have you got with that process?
