Navigating Refunds After a Disputed Transaction
Summary: dabatt17 raised a concern about dealing with counterfeit items bought on eBay, especially when sellers become unresponsive after their listings are removed for policy violations. tobiasd4 suggested opening a 'not as described' case, using the return label provided by the seller, and escalating if needed. tressygirl noted that buyers can still claim a refund through eBay's 30-day Money Back Guarantee by contacting customer services, even if the seller's account is removed. tommystrezures emphasized reading eBay’s Money Back Guarantee and following similar strategies for a refund, supporting the approach shared by tobiasd4.

Mentor2 weeks agoAre you able to open an eBay return for this item by selecting the 'Doesn't match description or photos' reason? You may not be able to if the seller has been flagged up for listing counterfeit items and the original listing has been removed, in which case you'll need to contact eBay who can manually open one for you.

Mentor2 weeks agoIn scenarios like this that you describe, in order for buyers to get their money back I will share my thoughts and personal experience and strategy with you. Its really effective.
Read the ebay money back gaurantee its on most listings.
Once you have read this, it will tell you what you should do in these complex situations as you mention
You don't need to worry about the seller being unresponsive, infact you don't even need to talk to them in the first place.
To get my money back I would do exactly what @tobiasd4 mentions below and open a not as described case and follow his instructions.
ITs a super strategy and always works.

Mentor2 weeks agoeBay remove the seller from their site, to protect others from receiving counterfeit items.
Removed, you cannot then directly open a case, as there's no information for the seller's account present.
If you are still within 30 days of the item's last estimated date for delivery, eBay's 30 day MBG still applies, and you need to contact eBay Customer Services who will fully refund you.

Mentor2 weeks agoYou open item not as described case.
Seller provides returns label, post back for full refund.
Escalate on day 4 if no label or refund.
