Mystery Envelopes: The Case of the Empty eBay Package
Summary: siwo_2088 shared an experience about receiving an empty package, possibly as part of a scam where sellers can claim delivery. tressygirl asked for more details to provide help, while john1297576 advised opening a 'Not as Described' case rather than a 'Not Received' one to avoid the seller winning by proving delivery. siwo_2088 admitted to initially opening the wrong type of case and learned from the situation. tobiasd4 suggested closing the current case and opening the correct one to resolve the issue. tommystrezures noted that eBay itself doesn't deliver, prompting further clarification from siwo_2088 about the scam involving tracker manipulation.

Mentor3 weeks agoOddly eBay don't deliver so no I have never received an envelope from them that was empty etc. A carrier delivers, so AI and yourself need to explain in your own words whats happened before we can help you.

Mentor3 weeks agoIs this an AI generated general question, or something that has actually happened to you @siwo_2088 ?
If it is, tell us what you received , what if anything, was the original eBay purchase, and someone may be able to help you further.

OP3 weeks agoYeah, it was easier to get ai to generate the question .. I was sent an empty package as its probably a scam, as in I received an envelope with nothing in it, it was logged by Royal Mail as received and thus the seller can claim item received if I make a complaint.

Mentor3 weeks agoIf you purchased something but only received an empty envelope,
THEN you open a NOT AS DESCRIBED CASE. Seller either just refunds or has to supply a reply paid label.
In these circumstances NEVER open a Not received Case, as seller would win if they proved delivery.
Suggest you read the ebay 30 day money back guarantee.

OP3 weeks agoThanks, unfortunately i opened a not received case..before i received the empty envelope, so seller can claim I’ve received the item, even though I haven’t ..I’ve learnt a lesson. Thanks for your advice tho👍
