My son faked his age to sell an item now can't access his funds

Hello, my son wanted to sell an item and mistakingly used an older age to open an account and now can't access the funds he earned from the sale. We have tried contacting eBay to change the details to his mums name and have provided ID and detail changes but we still can't access his account.
I need to speak to a member of the eBay team to help reset his account, switch it to his mothers name and transfer the funds. Is there anyone who can help find how to do this as there is no obvious way to actually speak to anyone and explain the situation.

It is possible that ebay will say that he can never have the funds as he opened his account by breaking a fundamental rule. Or they might release his funds when he reaches 18 and his account becomes 'legal'.
Breaking rules, even 'mistakenly' comes with consequences. His might well be losing the item and the money.
