Hi,
more than 10 years with eBay and I thought I had seen everything but... here an interesting experience I would like to share with you.
A buyer bought an item, he received it after 3 days and then he pretended I should had included an accessory that was clearly stated as "not included" in my description of the ad. I kindly invited him to read the ad and nothing, he still pretended the accessory. The buyer realised he was not getting anywhere and he stated the item was not in the condition he expected (the item, as per ad and several pictures, was clearly visible in the ad with the light cosmetic imperfections); at this point the buyer said he didn't see the picture properly because using a mobile phone while placing the purchase.... of course 🙄
I called eBay about one day later (on the 28th of May at about 12:00pm) to report I was not happy with this buyer.
On the phone I've been promised someone would had called me back after 14:30 to give me the final decision.
Nobody from eBay called me back and the buyer in the meantime raised a case for "missing parts/damaged" and he wanted to return the item.
Having no choice (because the case gives me the option or to refund or to just contact the buyer), I agreed to have the item back for a refund thinking eBay didn't take any action (considering eBay didn't call me back).
After 4 days, first eBay closed the case in my favour (clearly stating the buyer was abusive) and only after 1 hour eBay reopened the case and closed it again in the buyer's favour!
The reason was I agreed to have the item returned and I didn't refund the buyer 😓
(I received the returned item on Sunday, I was not home, I came back home the day after (on Monday), just few hours before eBay closed/reopened/reclosed the case).
I've been badly let down 2 times in this exact episode: 1 time from the buyer's inappropriate behaviour (and he is now celebrating having had the case closed in favour of him) and I've been let down from eBay who didn't call me back as promised leaving me alone to deal with the buyer but in addition even closing/reopening a case from my favour to the buyer's favour in just 1 hour.
It s really frustrating

Mentor2 months agoeBay don't usually close a return case citing that the buyer had been abusive, that's a little unusual and not a reason for the case to close.
To be honest, there isn't really anything eBay can do hear except to make a note about the buyer, they're not going to take any action because a seller is unhappy with a buyer messing them about, only if there is clear evidence of abusive messages.
I'd just add that buyer to your Blocked Buyers list now and would relist your item.

OP2 months agoThank you for your kind reply.
I maybe didn't described correctly the part regarding eBay stating the buyer was abusive: I received an email from eBay saying the case was closed in my favour due to the abusive behaviour of the buyer;
If I'm allowed, I can copy and paste here this email.

Mentor2 months agoMaybe he was abusive to eBay, I don't know. Sounds like his card is marked though.
I'd still just block and relist, I wouldn't waste any more time with them.

OP2 months agoYou are right... it sounds like I had a case closed in my fault without doing anything wrong.
Anyway, it is what it is, my consciousness is clear
