Multitude of problems
Hello all, recently been using ebay here and there after a long time of staying away and am reminded why I left to begin with.
1: Why did they remove the "request total" "request invoice" "request combined shipping" options? Not available in any firefox fork or brave, not available in any desktop or mobile browser, as far as I have tested
2: Why the everloving eff, do they not bother to send verification texts to log in to the app? I have had the same 02 number for the better part of 2 decades, it's been linked to this ebay account that entire time, yet trying to log into the ebay app via a vodafone IP address asked for a text code which they never sent
3: What am i supposed to do about the above? I can't log in to the app because they are too incompetent to have an automated system send a verification code and now the app is locke don "verify its you... We'll need to cinfirm your identy call us on 2086-100157" which when dialed gives nothing. I found another thread saying to add a 0 in front of the nonseniscle number, didn't work for the person in that thread doesn't work for me either.
So on the pc I am unable to buy multiple items because there's no way to handle combined shipping , I am not allowed to log into the app, they refuse to send a code to a verified phone number and seemingly the only other route for so called "support" is a fictitious phone number. I mean ebay's never been known for it's service, but this level of incompetence doesn't happen by accident, it takes active effort to be this useless
Update: I tried to talk to a human through the live chat, was joined by someone who I asked about the check out issue, eventually they replied " I see you opened this account 16 years ago. Thank you for your loyalty." then disconnected

OP10 months agoSecond update: Well over an hour talking to multiple people via live chat and calling it "help" would be an objective lie, I would've got more support from Helen Keller and Stevie wonder. Most of the people outright ignored the question I was asking, the only one who expressed even a basic understanding said this
"After checking with our internal tools, I can confirm that the relevant team is already working on resolving this issue.
So first they lied, from a quick search around I am far from the first person asking about this, so evidently it is not being "worked on" and secondly the "advice" from ebays "help" staff is to check out, then give my details to the seller and hope that they are willing to refund the multiple post fees when there are zero ebay guidelines in place to ensure or even encourage them to do so meaning ebay have for some reason removed universally beneficial features and reduced it to a system of honour where you have to just trust a stranger and since the objectively bad change to allow negative feedback to be removed there's no way of reducing risk because feedback is entirely meaningless when only the good is permanent, and all of this was without so much as a single person even attempting to help me with the app log in issues.
i know ebay has never been "good" and I know its the company at fault not the individuals I dealt with in the "help" chat tonight, but I cannot fathom how stupid they have to be to run things like this, it's a largely self sustaining money mill where all they have to do is keep the site functional and take a cut out of user to user transactions, yet they literally could not do things more poorly if they tried, tonight alone
-add multiple items from one seller to basket
-there are no request invoice/request combined shipping/request total buttons
- try different browsers, still no buttons
-try to log in to ebay app, to see if it has the above features
-get asked for verification code
-using same number thats been linked to ebay for 16 years, never receive code
-try to log in again, account is now locked and asks me to call the 2086 phone number, which is not a valid number
- use the live chat to ask why i cant request total
- after over an hour and multiple staff coming and going in live chat, "help" staff tell me to just checkout, pay individual post costs then send the seller my personal bank details and hope they refund me the post fees, at which point why even use ebay at all? if they remove themselves and the point of feedback and buyer protection from the equation, why not negotiate paying the seller directly outside of ebay where we could handle combined post or just going elsewhere?
-ebay "help" doesnt even address my question about logging in to the phone app
- ebay "help" first encounter was someone saying " i see you created this account 16 years ago, thank you for your loyalty" then disconnecting
