Misuse of return refund policy by buyers
I am a private seller. I only started selling a few bits this year as I'm having a clear out. My profile clearly starts I do not accept returns. A buyer wanted to return an item because it didn't fit them. The item was accurately described with clear photos of the design and size label on my profile. I rang eBay customer service and they advised I was not obliged to accept a return just because it didn't fit the buyer. They called it a remorse return request. They advised me to report the buyer officially for misuse of the return policy, which I did on the App. They confirmed I had given an accurate description. The following day I received an email which said the buyer had filed a concern stating the item was not as described. I rang customer service again and they said they would just fully refund the buyer and send me my seller funds. Although I didn't financially lose out I am very disappointed that eBay allowed the buyer to misuse the refund policy to get a full refund including postage costs. Giving refunds in such circumstances will just encourage further misuse and increase costs for honest customers.

Mentor4 months agoAt least ebay have refunded rather than you. You were actually very lucky that ebay refunded as it is not the usual way. Normally once a not as described case has been opened you would have to supply a return label and refund everything the buyer paid on return.
Yes it is cheeky of your buyer, so add them to your blocked list now so they can't come back/

OP4 months agoI have blocked them. I just hope they don't take advantage of other sellers.

Mentor4 months agoIt's not something that the buyer can continue to do though, their card is now marked with eBay.
