Missing parcel by Royal Mail

Question

Hi i sold an item on eBay 14 days ago but the buyer hasnt received it. Unable to ger through to Royal mail, tried for 3 continuous days.

Could anyone tell me please if the buyer is refunded what happens to my item. Obviously lost but will I be compensated.

When I purchased the label on eBay it didn't mention anything about claiming insurance.

I have no receipt of the item I sold as it was a gift.

As long as you used ebay's simple deilvery postage and the item was eligible (ie. not precious gem or metal) when the buyer opens a "not received" case ebay will issue the refund themselves and you keep the payment.
